COFFEE TABLE
It all began with an obsession of Chinese Lattice Window Designs.
Many strolls through old alleys in Beijing’s old town made me fall in love with all the different lattice designs from past dynasties.
Later on I was teaching a workshop course on 3d printing and design and we chose to use Chinese architecture as an inspirational starting point. This made me dig deeper into my weird lattice window fetish and so I found the book, no, the bible of lattice window designs. I could not believe that once upon a time someone out there existed with an even greater obsession of this feature of Chinese architecture. So much so, that he devoted an insane amount of time of his life to documenting and studying all existing lattice designs out there. The book is a great classic study and an incredibly rich source of design for anyone but especially for those of us with a distinct appetite for lattice. Pun intended.

A marriage of African Okoumé and Austrian Fir multiplex boards make up the body of the table.

Multiple laser cut panels combine to create the patterns and allow for a hollow body.

Removable tiles allow for different storage spaces hidden from the unsuspecting eye.

After long, unsuccessful search for table legs that i liked, I MIG welded the legs out of steel rods myself.

Custom molded concrete planter that fits into the center cutout. If planter is not wanted it can be replaced by the tile to switch back to a clean table surface.
